The status of photovoltaics in stand-alone and grid-connected applications as well as its prospects for a further penetration in the current energy system are discussed.
Photovoltaic applications, classified under the distributed utility concept, which increases substantially the value of the generated electricity, exhibit a large penetration potential in terms of power capacity.
