Note:
The aim of this paper is to deal with the energy and exergy analyses of a UHP electric-arc furnace, after some remarks about exergy efficiency and chemical exergy of elements, taking into consideration that in no way the environment can be postulated in perfect chemical equilibrium. In addition, means to reduce noise, air and water pollution are examined, pointing out that if energy recovery and environment pollution are take in consideration at the beginning of a project of an electric arc furnace, the solution can be optimal, even from an economical point of view.
