Computation of two dimensional flows of cryogenic hydrogen

Pubblicazione

Autore: A. Dadone

Collana: CA - 54 - L Aquila 1999

Note:
This paper provides an accurate methodology for computing two-dimensional steady flows of cryogenic hydrogen, which is suitable for the design of cryogenic pumps. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved employing a finite volume discretization based on the approximate Riemann solver for real gases proposed by Glaister. Time integration is performed using a Runge-Kutta scheme which is combined with a multigrid acceleration technique and a local refinement strategy. The state and thermodynamic properties of cryogenic hydrogen are represented by appropriate relations. The computation of twodimensional viscous flows about a NACA0012 airfoil shows the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
