Note:
The two-region rewetting model with a step change in the heat transfer coefficient is condired to be the most basic rewetting model. Such a model, while capable of reproducing, both in magnitude and trend, a large number of experimental data on falling film rewetting, doesn't retain the physical meaning of the involved parameters (in particular, of the wet side region heat transfer coefficient) which, consequently, are to be regarded as correlating parameters only. The values for these parameters, obtained in a previous work devoted to the correlation of the model results with some significant experimental data on falling film rewetting, seem to suggest a correction to be applied to the model expression for the rewetting velocity, which is able to overcome the above inconsistency, bringing the heat transfer process taking place at the quench front to the nucleate boiling crisis conditions.
