The parametric analysis of axial compressor maps allows to establish the dependence of some major performance parameters on the design pressure ratio and technology level. Limiting the analysis to the operational range of industrial stationary compressors, some additional generalizations are possible that otherwise would fail. The knowledge of this parameters’ relationships, is the basis to build generalized compressor maps that represent the ‘statistically expected’ behaviour of a generic axial compressors of a given technology level and design pressure ratio.
The way to refine the model using information commonly available to any engineering company is described.
