An experimental assessment of planar anode-supported SOFC performance at different temperatures

In this paper, a performance evaluation of planar circular-shaped SOFC cells was performed considering two different designs of planar cells. Both have porous Ni–YSZ anode as mechanical support, Ni–YSZ anode active layer, yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte, and they only differ for the cathode design: (1) strontium doped lanthanum manganate (LSM)–YSZ cathode interlayer and LSM current collector; (2) yttria doped ceria (YDC) blocking layer and lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite oxide (LSCF) cathode were compared.
