CFD simulation of in-flight performance of an aircraft air-conditioning prototype based on carbon dioxide as working fluid

In this work with regards to the original drag and lift, due to the designed gas cooler nacelle, required by the air conditioning prototype, were evaluated at in-flight conditions. In particular the external nacelle, which has the purpose to collect the cooling external air, shows to substantially preserve the original fluid flow near the aircraft. This validates the proposed installation layout.
System design, component selection, installation definition and flight authorization from the aviation authority have been up to now completed and achieved. Aircraft modifications and component installation are in progress. Tests will be performed soon on the aircraft both on ground and in flight.
