In this article we will pay special attention to the effect the vortex generators have on the behaviour of the lift coefficient when the blade is soiled.
A rough blade also alters the behaviour of the fluid. The detachment bubble will appear for smaller angles and will be larger. This variation of detachment is very important as it significantly modifies the aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoil. For a stall-controlled aerogenerator this modification of the beginning of the stalling generates serious alterations of the power curve.
In order to carry out our tests we have used a CFD programme (Computational Fluid Dynamics): FLUENT version 6.1. This programme applies the finite volume method.
