This work presents the concept and a prototype for a concentrating solar collector for water heating and direct vapour generation. First, a general analysis of concentrating solar collectors is presented, which motivates the discussion of the new design. Test results for on-sun operation of the prototype are presented and compared with the collector efficiency analysis. Finally, improvements to the current design are discussed, as well as the possibilities for extending this concept to other applications.
