A regenerative heat exchanger for CO2 capture from flue gas

Pubblicazione

Autore: V. Calicchio, G. Langella, C. Noviello

Collana: BT - 34 - Mag 06 - Energy: production, distribution and conservation

Note:
The paper deals with the analysis of a cooling system for flue gas, down to cryogenic level. It has been considered to work with a regenerative heat exchanger, something like Ljunstrom pre-heater in big industrial boiler systems; using such a system it has been evaluated a strong flue gas cooling process in order to reach the temperature needed for CO2 condensation or solidification and so segregation, emitting only oxygen and nitrogen (water is condensed yet before).
The whole heat exchanging system has been numerically modelled in order to highlight the most effective parameters in design and operation of such systems, computing data about thermal efficiency and all the thermofluidynamic parameters of interest.
