Numerical prediction of film cooling on the squealer tip of gas turbine blade

Note:
The blade tip is one area that experiences high heat transfer due to the strong tip leakage flow. One of the common methods is to apply film cooling on tip to reduce the heat load. Numerical calculations are performed to simulate the tip leakage flow on the squealer tip of Ansaldo Energia V94.3A2 turbine first stage rotor blade. The predictions have been performed for the k-ε turbulence model in order to asses the capability of this model in correctly predicting flow and the blade heat transfer. The calculations have been performed for a base-load engine condition with an inlet turbulence intensity of 9.3% and for a tip gap clearance of 0.6% of the blade span.
