Two phase MHD direct conversion system for burning coal at high efficiency and very low emissions

A two phase Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic direct conversion system is proposed. It consist of gas bubble flow in a stream of an electrically conducting fluid. A favourable gas to liquid flow-rate ratio allows to operate a "quasi" Ericsson cycle. This feature is capable to achieve high efficiency even in presence of limited heat source temperature. The system is also suitable to accept multifuel operations and, in particular, the combustion of coal and enriched air as requested for zero emission coal fired power plants. Existing technology is ready to support the building up of such a system.
