Note:
The present work introduces the results of a method to dry the Eucalyptus, in logs, through natural convection, with the use of solar energy. The logs were cut in the fields and transfered to the testing location (research). Their medium length was of 3.0 m, the diameter between 0.12 m and 0.20 m, having a initial humidity of about 50%. After 90 days being exposed to the sun, and even to rain, the humidity reached 22% when finally the logs were all piled (on wet bases) with a defined placing and large of 2.4 m and 2.0 m. To complete the investigation, the logs were chopped to ease the dryness for their further burning. The drying of the chips was made by foced convection, with the air blown from underneath. For this operation to take place the estimation of the pressure loss was very important. So, an experience was made to estimate this pressure loss, where about 95% of the chips were from 25.4 mm to 9.5 mm long and had until 6.0 mm thickness.
