Note:
This paper is concerned with the treatment of wall and periodic boundaries within a recently developed multidimensional upwind adaptive method, based on a simple wave decomposition of the Euler equations. A simplified wall boundary condition, based on the application of the isentropic simple radial equilibrium with a characteristic correction, is analyzed. For the case of high turning cascades, periodic C-grids turn out to be highly skewed so that the spatial accuracy of the solution deteriorates signicantly. This problem is reduced by using non-periodic grids which guarantee a better orientation of the mesh. Here, a conservative technique is developed for treating periodic boundaries on non-periodic grids, for any cell-vertex residual distribution method. The approach is validated versus experimental cascade flow data.
