Note:
This work program responds to the Mandate to CEN, CENELEC and ETSI for the elaboration and adoption of standards for a methodology calculating the integrated energy performance of buildings and estimating the environmental impact, in accordance with the terms set in the Directive 2010/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 May 2010 on the energy performance of buildings (recast). It will lead to a second generation set of the CEN-EPBD standards. This set will be more usable as direct reference in national legislation, lead to a high transparency in national choices and involve the Member States actively. It will be adapted to the needs for tools resulting from the requirements in the EPBD recast (2010/31/EU). It will promote international exchange of knowledge and shared research in the field of energy saving technology; support the increased circulation of products, services and real estate data; this will lead to faster implementation of new solutions; enable European experts to retain the initiative on global level, given the strong interest at ISO level for the CEN EPBD standards, which will lead to increased credibility of the EU in the world. The ultimate goal is to have available high quality and efficient European tools leading to high performance buildings and a strong position on the market for energy saving technology.
