Note:
The paper, moving from the critical examination of the open literature regarding ternary CO2-N2-O2 mixtures, describes the mathematical models based on cubic equations of state and how they can be adapted to predict thermodynamic properties of those mixtures. Nevertheless, such models can provide reliable predictions only when experimental data are available to make a regression of the interaction coefficients employed in the mixing rules. To this purpose, an experimental campaign has been
planned by means of an apparatus (presently in completion at the laboratories of LEAP consortium – Laboratorio Energia e Ambiente Piacenza) designed to carry out density measurements of multi-components mixtures along isotherms. The working principles of the experimental equipment, the operational procedures and measurements methods are described in the paper.
