Note:
The paper describes the physical problem, the numerical procedure and some preliminary results of the numerical simulation in a concurrent flat heat exchanger made of two parallel plates. The two fluids, both liquid metals, are flowing in turbulent flow with fully developed velocity at high Reynolds numbers with equal mass flow rates. The energy equations are solved in the two fluids as well as in the wall separating the two fluids and in the two insulated lateral walls of the heat exchanger. The energy equations are written taking into account the stream-wise heat conduction in the two liquid metals as well as in the walls.
