Note:
This paper deals with the design and the realization of a industrial demonstrator thermal-hydraulic plant in which a Gas Absorption Heat Pump (GAHP) is used for air-conditioning purposes. The main characteristic of the plant is to use thermal power coming from the solar radiation to feed the GAHP. This is realized by means of a linear parabolic solar collector and a synthetic thermal vector. In addition, the plant is provided with a natural gas boiler, in order to ensure the sun-independent plant operation. In a preliminary step a numerical simulation process has been made to improve the plant design, in terms of solar trough structural-optical layout, thermal balance, piping and controls. A model has been developed in AMESim environment comprehensive of all the system components, in order to predict the plant potentiality and optimize the use of the solar radiation energy during the year. The obtained results highlight the relationship between the solar radiation intensity and the thermal power transfer capability, taking into account practical aspects like thermal oil temperature control, GAHP loading, transients.
