The disaustrous effects caused by the emission of atmospheric pollutants are very known, and the energy is responsable for 50% of the green house effect. The city of Salvador, Bahia, Brasil, with aproximately 2.5 milion inhabitants housing an important architectural asset and has 261.016 vehicles running primarilyi` on alcohol, gasoline and diesel oil. About 80% cars run on alcohol and gasoline. By means of an inventory of the emission from vehicles,this research quantifiesi` the emission from burning fuels using the total vehicle fleet of Salvador. This inventory estimates the automotor vehicle emission by source and kind of vehicle for the main pollutants like CO, HC, NOx, SOx and particulate matter. The relation ship between energy use and emited pollutants will be established and evaluated. The emission factor for the total vehicle fleet are quantified in g/Km and the total vehicular emission for each pollutant and its percentual contribution are expressed in ton/year.
