Collana: CA - 49 - Perugia 1994
Note:
A program system is presented, which makes the thermodynamic design, optimisation and part load simulation of thermal power plants, including combined cycles and cogeneration, possible. The solution procedure is based on the NewtonRaphson method for simultaneous solution of the existing non-lineal equations for each power plant component. For the optimisation of circulation or operation, parameters can be supplied which are successively altered to such on extent that, for example, the degree of thermal efficieny reaches its peak. In order that the thermodynamic properties of water and steam may be calculated, a subprogram system is used which is based on a equation published by Saul in 1988 for the free energy, independet of temperatur and of specific volume. This function has proved to be more reliable, and faster, than the 1967 IfC Formulations for Industrial Use and the IAPS Formulation 1984, particulary with regard to the calculation of the inverse functions. The program was successfully applied, for example, in the thermodynamic analysis and optimisation of the operation methods for two cogeneration power stations for the production of process heat and long-distance energy.
