Note:
In this paper the operation of a solar desiccant cooling system is investigated. This system is coupled to a training room containing 40 persons. A model of the whole system coupled to the building was developed and implemented in the simulation environment SimSPARK. Two operations are shown: autonomous solar operation (with /without air bypass) and solar assisted operation (with an auxiliary heating source). Simulations were run for climatic conditions of the city of Marseilles in southern France. Our results suggest that for this city, the use of an auxiliary heat source to regenerate the desiccant wheel is better suited. Besides the use of a bypass for the regeneration air increases thermal performance of the system and reduces primary energy consumption.
